Object of the Season (Summer 2019)

M 108 in Ursa Major

Pierre Méchain found the large edge-on galaxy on 16 February 1781 with a 3-inch refractor. A 12th magnitude star is superimposed on the disc. 48' northwest we find the bright planetary nebula M 97.
