Observations of the NGC 48 group in Andromeda
We have a slightly belated observation report from the Haw Wood Star Party by Andrew Robertson. One of his targets was our Galaxy of the Month for September: the NGC 48 Group. Please click on the image of his observing record for a larger version that may be easier to read.
Andrew's Report
In the 48 group all 3 IC galaxies were quite easy. As usual my sketches are not artistic or accurate, it’s just to give a flavour or record of what level of detail I could see.

NGC 48 group of galaxies
The Moon was getting low so out with the Dob and I enjoyed galaxy of the month (thanks Owen), NGC 48/49/51 and nearby IC galaxies.
NGC 51 was the brightest and showed a core. NGC 48 was distinctly oval, the largest of the three but lacked a core, NGC 49 was the hardest to locate but with averted vision a core was discerned.
The three nearby IC galaxies were fainter, especially 1536. IC 1534 and IC 1535 were distinctly oval. Averted vision was needed to clearly define position and shape.
